Where can I legally dispose of asbestos on the Sunshine Coast?

You must provide 48 hours’ notice to the council via an application form before arrival, and all materials must be double-wrapped in 200-micron plastic.

Do I need a permit to remove a small amount of “fibro” from my beach shack?

In Queensland, homeowners can remove up to 10 square metres of non-friable (bonded) asbestos without a license. However, given the complexity of removing asbestos you require specialised equipment such as HEPA – H Class vacuum cleaners to ensure the decontamination process has cleaned up all associated asbestos fibres from the asbestos removal. Engaging professionals is the safest and most practical way when it comes to any asbestos removal. If the area exceeds 10m², a licensed Class B or Class A professional is legally required.
